School Council 2025-2026

We are the St. Mary’s School Council and we are the elected representatives of our classes. Our job is to be the voice of our classmates. We meet and make decisions on how the school could run things. For example, we make decisions for themed days throughout the year, like special meals events for school lunches, and what children should wear for Children in Need and other charity days. Last year we organised the school to run a local community fundraising event, for a local animal charity called ALFs. We also take what our classmates say back into meetings, which we then discuss with Mrs Orton and members of the teachers' leadership team. 

Westgate Grow Together Challenge

The St. Mary's School Council and the Westgate Care Home in Ware recently linked together for a challenge called Westgate Grow Together. 

The idea comes from staff members at the Westgate Care Home in Ware, who wanted to join up with local school children to raise the awareness of where food comes from. 

The first meeting involved the St. Mary's School Council children visiting the care home to team up with residents of the care home so they are able to participate in a competition to see who will grow the tallest runner bean.
