Our Physical Education curriculum has recently been redesigned, as all teachers are now teaching their own PE lessons twice a week. Pupils take part in two PE lessons a week and cover a range of sports including: basketball, hockey, tag rugby, cricket, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, dance, orienteering, yoga, paralympics and athletics.

At St Mary's, we focus on maximising the extra-curricular engagement of pupils across the school. We host a variety of intra-school events (in-house activities and competitions), as well as entering many of the Hertford & Ware School Sport Partnership's festivals and competitions.

Recent events

Football, Girls' Football and Netball vs Morgans

Another three fixtures for the St Mary's teams, as we hosted Morgans School for the second time this academic year. The girls football match was an exciting opportunity for many to wear the school kit for the first time. Plenty of goals, plenty of skills and plenty of fun had all round! Equally, the boys conducted themselves exceptionally well, rotating their positions and focusing on their style of play. The netball match was close once again, with more members of the netball squad playing in their first matches for the school and some their first netball matches ever!

Football and Netball vs St Catherine's

The netball team came back brilliantly in their first game of the season against St Catherine's, demonstrating great teamwork and narrowly missing out by one goal. Plenty of new players for the team this year and lots of progress made in the match. The footballers also came back well, equalising in the final minute of the match to draw with St Catherine's football team. It was an extremely exciting match with lots of excellent, attacking football.

Football vs Morgans

The school's football season began with two home games against Morgans. It was great to see so many players representing the school, many for the first time. All twenty of our players represented the school excellently and there was some brilliant football on display. James and Ollie were selected as Players of the Match for their respective teams.

Cross Country Round 1

A fantastic sixty-two Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in the first round of our intra-school cross country races. The girls' race was won by Lali, with Olivia and Tilly in second and third respectively, while the boys' race saw a very close front three of...

Football and Netball trials

Interest was once again high in our school netball and football teams, with a record number of netballers attending our trials and over forty-five footballers. Thank you to everyone who attended, good luck to those selected for the season ahead and keep an eye out for upcoming events if you were unsuccessful this time round.
