P.E.

Our Physical Education curriculum has been redesigned this year, as all teachers are now teaching their own PE lessons twice a week. Pupils take part in two PE lessons a week and cover a range of sports including: basketball, cricket, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, dance and athletics.

At St Mary's, we focus on maximising the extra-curricular engagement of pupils across the school. We host a variety of intra-school events (in-house activities and competitions), as well as entering many of the Hertford & Ware School Sport Partnership's festivals and competitions.

Many of our intra-school events are organised by our sports captains (Lila, Charlie, Violet, Tommy, Olivia, Oscar, Ben & Evie) and our sports ambassadors (Eva & Tom).

Intra-school engagement - current figure 84% of the school

Inter-school representation - current figure 52% of the school

Recent events

Year 4 Rapid-Fire Cricket

Another event for our lucky year 4 pupils. It was the first time St Mary's had entered the Rapid-Fire cricket competition, an introductory version of the game where the main aim is on improving hand-eye coordination and fielding techniques. Well done to Amelia, Isabella, Isabelle, Coby, James and Kalvin for representing the school so well and scoring such high amounts of runs in each match.

Year 4 Sportshall Athletics festival

A group of our Year 4 pupils attended the Hertford & Ware Athletics festival at Wodson Park. There was a range of events and activities, including speed bounce and an obstacle relay. Ioan said, "I really liked the speed stacking because it was really fun and you could race against others." Thirza commented, "It was fun because there were lots of exciting events to do."
