In Year 3, home learning involves maths, spellings and reading. In maths, your child needs to be completing regular multiplication practice of the 2's 5's and 10's. Throughout the year we will be working our way through the times tables starting with the 3's, 4's and 8's. You can support your child with this by using resources found on the school website. Frequent practice is essential to ensure children have a secure understanding of their times tables which will support them in future years at St Mary's.
Spelling (on Spelling Shed) will be set on a Wednesday and will be due in by the following Wednesday. The spellings set will be in line with our weekly spelling focus. The children need to practise the lists set for each week and can challenge themselves by playing games from whichever stage has been set for them.
Reading should be at least 10 minutes every day with an adult who can support. Your child will be given a school reading record to document their reading at home and within school. Children can read a book from the school library or a book they have at home, but this book needs to be with them in school so that they can continue during class reading times. The children will visit the school library every week where they can choose a book. They do not have to change their book every week.
