The School Council benefits the whole school community because it provides opportunities for pupils to communicate their feelings as well as influence decisions that are made. Councillors develop skills such as confidence, communication and negotiation. It is the responsibility of each Councillor to ensure that they express both their own views and the views of all the other pupils they represent.
We meet every two weeks to share our ideas and those of our classmates and work towards making improvements in school and support a range of charities.
Ideas that we have been working on so far include:
Developing a ‘Buddy/Friendship Stop’ in the playground (coming after half term).
New Double Dutch Skipping Ropes for the playground.
Our first step towards making school single use plastic free:
Introducing re-useable plastic beakers to the classrooms so that if children forget their water bottles, they can use the beakers rather than single use plastic cups.
How do we reduce, re-use and recycle more in school?
