Take That - Never Forget (Official Lyric Video)

July 2023:
For Y3, Y4 and Y5 to learn

At St Mary’s, children will develop a love of listening to and performing a variety of different types of music. Through knowledge and acquisition, they will develop the value of respect by showing a respect for instruments and each other as performers. As well as developing a cultural capital and respect for music and its uses around the world. Finally, Children will demonstrate the value of friendship by working collaboratively within the community to create, rehearse and perform music to wide a range of audiences.

On Wednesday 15th January 2020, Mr Burrell came to speak to us in Collective Worship. He discussed that Christians believe God is our creator and that He made us to be creative because He made us 'in his image' and He wanted us to share His creativity. This inspires Mr Burrell because it means that composers can create things from small beginnings or almost nothing.

He told us the story of his cantata 'Out there', which the choir will be performing in March. He played us some of the songs on his piano and had us sing some of the lyrics. We really enjoyed having Mr Burrell and are looking forward to practicing his cantarta.

On 22nd November 2019 , Kirsty and Juilette from Hertfordshire Music Service came and spent a collective worship session telling all us about violins. They spoke to us about the different sections of the orchestra and showed us all the different types of violin.

After this, Years 3,4 and 5 participated in a workshop where they learnt about how to hold the violin and some plucking techniques.

Thank you Kirsty and Juilette for spending time with us.
