Harvest Assembly Tuesday 15th October 2019

We are asking the children to bring in an item from the ‘Shopping List’ to their classroom on  Monday 14th October, so that we can create a wonderful whole school display ready for our special Harvest Assembly. The goods will then be taken to the Hertford Food Bank by myself, Mrs Orton and some children.

coffee and teabags milk          (UHT or powdered)    sugar (500g)  fruit juices (long life)

tinned pudding         jam            instant mashed potatoes           dried pasta and rice  cereals

baked beans             soup           biscuits                      tinned tomatoes

Tuesday 24th September 2019

Six (soggy) Year 6 children, Mrs Orton and Miss George travelled to St Hugh's and St John's church in Stevenage to take part in a Taizé worship group along with several other schools from the area. The workshop was run by our very own Rev Ysmena and she introduced us all to short songs/chants that could be used in Collective Worship in school. The songs used not only English, but Greek and Latin too.

The children listened and joined in very carefully and are ready for the next step of working out how and when we can use the things they have learnt in class and whole school Collective Worship and reflection times.

Check back soon to see how we get on with our first Taizé worship time!

Monday 16th September 2019

Thank you to Mrs Bird for leading our Collective Worship this morning and telling us about the 'Food Bank' that is currently running in Hertford. She explained to the children that for many different reasons many more families and individuals are using the Food Bank to help support them in their time of need. The children were able to reflect on our school values of love, respect and friendship and how we can realise these values by helping people through our donations.

At the moment the Hertford Food Bank is the nearest branch to school, so we will be supporting the project this year at our Harvest Festival (more information to follow).

There are exciting plans for a new project that we shall be supporting later in the year, so please watch this space for more information!

Thank you to the four girls who put together some ideas for a design for the flower festival. We had a busy time down at the church and the girls did an amazing job of creating a design to represent St Mary.
