Recently in Year 5, we have been looking at biomes, moving toys and free verse poetry.
Our biomes study has involved looking at features and locations of biomes around the world, including where the children have been on holiday. Our moving toys in DT are starting to take shape, as we have designed and are now ready to construct them with a lot of care and accuracy.
In English, we have planned and written a free verse poem in the style of Michael Rosen about a close friend or family member. These will be displayed in the reception area for you to enjoy after Christmas.
What a start to the year!
Year 5 have been developing plans to build bridges to support weight, using paper as the structure. The children could not believe how it was done. We have also been working incredibly hard on understanding the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages, and have dived into a class mystery text to create new chapters of the book. In geography, we have been studying South American countries and have been making comparisons between South America and the UK.
We look forward to sharing all that we have found out this half term.
